New player, cannot purchase from shops.

Hello everyone. I am new to the Gothicat world, and having trouble purchasing items from shops. A couple of my creatures are sick, and I’d like to heal them, however when I go to purchase a potion it says I have 0 floryns. I have several hundred floryns and the potion only costs 40. Do I need the ingredients for the potion? I also cannot purchase brushes or items from the boutique.
