I came from Discord, and I am 23! (And a half
)
I think the growing 20-30 and 30-40 year old player trend with English speakers deals with many of us being among the first petsimmer generation online?
For examples, one of my heros in the genre wrote one of the first games that introduced many to the sim game world, and I was one of the first generation to really get into them, over a decade ago. It seems to be that the younger players don’t stick around as long, but there’s another factor.
English speakers built the genre. Only within the past five years have games like this geared towards non-English speakers really grown, and the player base is overall younger as they are the first player generation. I think in about five years we will see this trend in the non-English speaking game sector as well.
Just some observations from a pet simmer who joined the genre almost twelve years ago! I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this trend, it fascinates me and this is the best explanation I can come up with, that makes sense.
Edit: worth noting coppa law was not enforced very well in 2006; I used a site that actually was coppa-compliant and that was a rarity.
Weresocks! Socks by the light of the sun, weresocks by the light of the full moon.
Do not put them on when the full moon shines, or one less foot you’ll need to find.
